Trinity Christian High (KS.) running back Tyler Burns was in Ames this month to see what Iowa State had to offer. Scout.com caught up with the junior about his trip.

Tyler Burns had the opportunity to visit Iowa State when they took on Big 12 foe Texas Christian. What did Burns think of his trip?

"I liked the atmosphere," said Burns. "I love he energy from the head coach. And the weight room was great."

"(The visit) was good. The coaches seemed nice. Coach Rhoads was energetic and the running backs coach was impressive. He's coached Erick Dickerson and Barry Sanders. They were great backs, but he knows a lot about coaching good running backs," Burns continued.

Iowa State joins Kansas and Kansas State as programs he has taken visits to. There's also a special connection to Kansas State.

"I've been to Kansas State on a recruiting trip as well as just to watch since my brother (Morgan Burns) plays at K-State," he said. "He plays cornerback there. He's not starting, but he's playing on special teams."

Burns is also hoping to make trips to Nebraska and Ole Miss this fall.

So what kind of player is Burns? What does he do on the field?

"I'm a hard-nosed guy. I'm never going to give up. I hate to lose," Burns said. "I play for God because he gave met these talents to play. I think my speed is my main strength, but I use my power to run over players and get hard yards. But my speed comes first," he finished.
