Ohio State Offers Four-Star DT
Like many college athletes, Dodge City (KS) Community College defensive tackle Terrell Clinkscales is active in social media. But that wasn't always the case. "I've only been active on Twitter for the last month and a half," the four-star junior college prospect said with a smile. "I'm on Twitter one day, and I noticed Mike Vrabel followed me. Earlier in the year, I unfollowed him. I was like ‘this man isn't going to follow me.'" After cutting Twitter ties, Clinkscales figured that was the last he would see of the Ohio State assistant coach on his timeline. All that changed last week. "Four or five days ago," he said of when he noticed Vrabel again. "I'm like ‘why is he following me?' He inboxed me, and told me to call him. I called, and he said ‘Ohio State wants to offer you.'" After logging 56 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks this season, the 6-foot-4, 315-pounder has seen his recruitment blow up. The Buckeyes join Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Nebraska, and Oregon among the 17 programs to offer the Conquistadors DT. With a pair of official visits already in the books to Iowa State and Kansas State, Ohio State plans to host Clinkscales in January. "They said ‘we will get back to you, but we will definitely get you here in January,'" Clinkscales said of his talk with the coaching staff. "Once he (Vrabel) sends me everything, I am going to visit." A Chicago native, the coveted defender grew up watching Big Ten football. Though he never imagined playing there as a kid, Clinkscales believes his game makes him a great fit for the Ohio State defense. "I never really thought about it growing up," he said of playing in the Big Ten. "I think I would fit right into that kind of program and go dominate. I think a lot of the run in the Big Ten, but I can pass rush too. I like the SEC, but I feel like the Big Ten is more my style."
