Farmer connecting with future teammates

Nebraska commitment Tanner Farmer was in the crown on Friday for his official visit to Lincoln. The standout offensive lineman has done it a couple of times before. What did he hope to accomplish on this trip?

Tanner Farmer was one of four Nebraska commitments in town for their official visits this weekend. The 6-foot-3 and 290-pound offensive lineman from Highland (Ill.) went there trying to connect a little more with some of the players.

"The visit went very well," Farmer said. "This was the third time I was there for a game this season. I wanted to try and get to know some of the players better to see how we got along.

"I got a chance to do that after the game on Friday night. I am becoming friends with guys like Zach Sterup, Ryne Reeves and Jake Cotton. I also wanted to see the coaches again."

Besides being a standout offensive lineman Farmer is also a nationally recognized wrestler. He says that the season has already started, but he has had to wait before he starts because of a hydration test he took.

"Wrestling season has already started, but I have had to wait. I took a hydration test and I had to wait to start cutting weight. I have to get down to 285 and I am around 290. I will start on it this week."

After wrestling is over Farmer will be in-season again for Highland throwing the shot-pout and discus. He says that in the spring may be the next time he can get back to Nebraska after he signs his LOI in February.

"I will do track in the spring throwing shot-put and discus. I am going to try to get back to Lincoln in the spring for the Red-White game."
