Keels putting in the work already

Joe Keels is officially set to be a Husker and he's training tonight wishing he was in Lincoln already. The junior college defensive end talks about his hard work paying off and if he faced any criticism to choose the Huskers over the Badgers.

Highland (Kans.) C.C. defensive end Joe Keels is back in Wisconsin. He's been done with school and is preparing to enroll at Nebraska in January. The 6-foot-4 and 260-pound Keels signed his letter of intent earlier today and is already at the gym preparing for life in Lincoln.

"I am working out," Keels said laughing a little bit. "I am getting ready for Lincoln. It feels good to sign today. The hard work really paid off."

Being from Wisconsin and flipping on a commitment to the Badgers might have stirred up some criticism one might think. For Keels, this was about doing what was best for him. Out of it though came some speculation that maybe he couldn't academically qualify for Wisconsin.

"My family supported my decision completely. It was my decision to flip from Wisconsin to Nebraska. It was the best choice for me.

"There are rumors out there about me not making it into Wisconsin academically. Those are completely false. I just look forward to seeing them in the fall."
