Nebraska is looking to fill just a couple of holes in the 2014 class and one of them is still at the tackle position. Denzel Ward recently decommitted from Purdue and is now set to visit Lincoln next month.
Denzel Ward is looking at a busy month of January. The 6-foot-8 and 290-pound offensive tackle from Chicago (Ill.) Simeon has two visits set up for next month.
"Yes I am set to see Nebraska," Ward said. "I am set to go to Nebraska on January 24th. I am also going to go to Syracuse on January 17th."
Ward has been committed to two different schools, but the interest from Nebraska isn't new. He says that the Huskers weren't recruiting him very hard while he was committed, but offered when he decommitted.
"I decommitted from Purdue two days ago. Before that I decommitted from Michigan. Nebraska has been recruiting me for a while now, but I just got the offer.
"They hadn't been pursuing me very hard while I was committed to Purdue because I was committed. Coach John Garrison and I were in communication though and he is the coach recruiting me."
Ward has been thinking about the opportunity to visit to Nebraska next month. He wants to just check everything out there and get to know the staff and the players.
"I really want to just check out the place. I want to get to meet all of the staff and meet some of the players. I want to see if I fit in with the team and on the offense."
