Semper Fi: West Top 5 Offense

A look at the top five offensive performances from day one at the West practices for the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl...

Day One MVP: OL Nick Gates

Bishop Gorman HS | NV
Team: West
Region: West
Recruiting: Considering Arizona, Nebraska, Oregon and Texas A&M

Practice Notes: One of two Nevada linemen in the game, Gates was the best performer on either side of the ball on Day One.  Agile, long armed, athletic and nasty, Gates was blowing his defender off the ball consistently.

OG Nick Gates
School: Bishop Gorman HS (Las Vegas, Nev.)
Height: 6-5
Weight: 270
Rank (Pos): #NR (OT #24)
Rating:

OL Kenyon Frison

Granger HS | UT
Team: West
Region: West
Recruiting: Committed to Utah

Practice Notes: Frison is one of the best looking lineman in the game, with great footwork, hand placement and natural knee bend.  Looked very good in pass protection and just as stout in run blocking.

OT Kenyon Frison
School: Granger HS (West Valley City, Utah)
Height: 6-5
Weight: 290
Rank (Pos): #NR (OT #25)
Rating:

OL D.J. Foster

Southeast HS | NE
Team: West
Region: Midlands
Recruiting: Committed to Nebraska

Practice Notes: Another one of the standout offensive lineman, Foster was fine in pass protection, but really showed out in the running game, playing low, getting under his defender and driving him back for running backs to run off.

OG Jerald Foster
School: Lincoln Southeast HS (Lincoln, Neb.)
Height: 6-3
Weight: 314
Rank (Pos): #NR (OG #19)
Rating:

Committed: Nebraska

OL Drew Clarkson

Camas HS | WA
Team: West
Region: West
Recruiting: Committed to Oregon State

Practice Notes: Clarkson may have had the best one-on-one rep of the day, going against Zaycoven Henderson and driving him back five yards and pancaking him, much to the delight of the other offensive linemen.  Clarkson may have been the most aggressive lineman on Day One.

OG Drew Clarkson
School: Camas HS (Camas, Wash.)
Height: 6-4
Weight: 275
Rank (Pos): #NR (OG #45)
Rating:

Committed: Oregon State

QB Manny Wilkins

San Marin HS | CA
Team: West
Region: West
Recruiting: Committed to Arizona State

Practice Notes: One of just two quarterbacks working on Day One, Wilkins was the most consistent of the two, and had the best throw of a day, a dart through a linebacker and safety for a touchdown.  Wilkins took command of the huddle and quickly developed a rapport with his receivers.

WR Shay Fields
