JUCO film: Cockrell is huge in the secondary

Nebraska is going to have some holes to fill in the defensive secondary next spring. Byerson Cockrell is headed to Lincoln for the spring semester as a junior college transfer to get into the picture immediately. Check out Cockrell's film here on BigRedReport.com!

Nebraska got two letters of intent for the mid-year transfers in December. One was Byerson Cockrell from Scooba (Miss.) East Mississippi defensive back. The Huskers were getting some needed, immediate help in their secondary.

The Nebraska coaches said that they liked the fact that Cockrell had size and could really run. Watch the film and both of those statements are very true. Nebraska had Cockrell watch Ciante Evans and Stanley Jean-Baptiste on his official visit to understand how they saw him.

Cockrell played more safety than a true cornerback, but watch the film and you will see an incredible break on the ball, natural instincts from both spots and is also a solid tackler. Nebraska loses four, senior cornerbacks and getting a guy like Cockrell in the spring is huge to a defense that will be very solid in the front seven next year.
