Poppen agrees to walk-on

Nebraska's first preferred walk-on of the 2014 class is Garrett Poppen, a linebacker from GIltner high school.

He's going to have to make the transition from 8-man to 11-man, but Giltner high school (NE) linebacker Garrett Poppen will walk-on at Nebraska.

"This is a big dream to go be a Husker," said Poppen (6-foot, 200-pounds). "My whole family has always been huge Husker fans and watch them play every weekend. I chose this route because I didn't want to regret not being a Husker later in life. I'm going to work my butt off and hopefully get a scholarship earned soon. I'm not taking the walk-on spot to just be apart of the team for four years. I want to play."

Poppen attended multiple Nebraska games this fall and had interest from multiple 1-AA schools. BRR will have more on the senior in the coming weeks, but here are his 2014 highlights until then.
