Huskers to host Jones

Nebraska has been incredibly active in Florida this month getting late interest from a number of recruits. One of those players is Chris Jones from Jacksonville (Flor.) Sandalwood who impressed the Huskers head coach.

Chris Jones, a cornerback from Jacksonville (Flor.) Sandalwood, is a standout on the football field on Friday nights and doing his part on the hardwood for his school. Jones says that basketball is all about being part of the team.

"I had a basketball game last night and my cell phone died," Jones said. "We are having a good season. I don't play a lot, but I am out there more for the conditioning and the team."

The Huskers are interested in Jones and wide receiver Desean Blair from Sandalwood. With the dead period being over a Nebraska assistant coach was there today to meet with both of them.

"Nebraska was here on Thursday. It was Coach Rich Fisher and that was the first coach that I had met from Nebraska. They came to see Desean and I and talked to both of us.

"Coach Fisher was telling me that Coach Bo Pelini really, really likes me and wants to meet me on an official visit. I am going to visit Lincoln this weekend with Desean."

Jones originally committed to South Florida. He then flipped on the USF commitment and committed to Purdue. Jones maintains that he is committed to the Boilermakers and will visit Nebraska with Blair this weekend.

"I am still committed to Purdue," Jones said. "I I feel like I fit there at Purdue, but Nebraska offered, Desean is going and Nebraska asked if I wanted to go with him on the visit."
