"I've been to Cal before but it was cool hanging out with the players and recruits out there," Fields said. "My cousin, Bryce Treggs was my host and he showed me around and we had a great time together. The academics at Cal really stand out for me, that's a big deal and a degree from there can open up a lot of doors.
"I like the offense too, they like to throw the ball a lot. The players on the team are really close and it felt like a family out there. I got a real sense that the guys on the team care for each other. You can tell they all know that if you do something, it affects the other guys on the team so everyone takes care of each other there."
The Bears have a young receiver core and Fields said that could impact his decision.
"They have a lot of young receivers on the team that play a lot already," Fields said. "Coach Likens told me they play a lot of receivers and there's definitely room for me. He also said I would be competing with five to seven other receivers to make the rotation so that's something I have to take in to consideration.
"Right now, I'm looking at Cal and Colorado and I think I'll be ready to make my decision by Wednesday. I don't have any home visits planned with anyone as of right now. I'm just going to sit down with my family, think everything over and then make the best decision for me."
