"I am playing basketball right now," Hluchoweckyj said. "I am saying that hopefully we have eight or nine games left this season which takes us through districts and into state.
"C.J. Johnson and I are the two guards for our team. We run a combo guard system. How much of a scorer I am depends on who we are playing. I am averaging 14 points per game or so."
There may be a few more weeks left of basketball and then Hluchoweckyj should be on the track. He won't be this year though.
"This spring I am taking off from track. I will be running track in the summer for Bellevue Breeze. There is a state tournament, regionals, nationals and you can make it to the junior Olympics.
"I will be doing the high jump for sure and am still thinking about doing the long jump, but I am thinking about it. I got 6-foot-10 in the high jump at state last year and have cleared 7-foot in practice before."
The time off this spring serves a second purpose. Hluchoweckyj doesn't have any answers about which sport he would prefer to do in college or would he like to pursue both?
"The time off this spring is honestly to figure out which sport I like better; track or football," Hluchoweckyj said. "I don't really know for sure which one I want to do or if I want to try and do both. I want to follow my heart."
Hluchoweckyj has made it to a junior day already this year although it wasn't the school he originally intended to visit that weekend.
Hluchoweckyj's schedule is full with track, but he says that he is planning on a couple more trips when he can make it. The first will be in a couple of weeks when he visits a nearby Big XII school.
"I am going to junior day at Kansas State on March 8th I think. I am going to make it to a one day camp at Nebraska this summer. I am not sure which session though. I am also going to a Nike combine too."
