"We just lost in the first round of the playoffs," Austin said. "I was playing at the shooting guard spot and was averaging about four to six points a game. Now, I am just getting ready for spring ball."
Austin had been looking ahead a little bit getting in some weights during basketball season preparing for spring ball. He has also been working out before and after school with his quarterback.
"I had been working out already in the weight room getting ready for football the past two to three weeks. We are also doing routes without quarterback in the mornings and after school."
Spring practices are just about a month and a half away and Austin is excited to get back out there with his teammates. He says that he is excited to show how much he's improved since his junior season.
"Spring practices start April 14th and I really just need to get better, compete and show people how I have improved in the off-season. I have gotten bigger. I am around 6-foot-3 and 193-pounds right now."
Austin has good size, but he's also a smart receiver. He says that he knows the spots to sit in the defense and he says that he can catch everything that is thrown his way.
"I am able to use my size to catch the ball and I can find soft spots in zone coverage to sit down and make the catch. I run really good routes and I am patient. I don't drop passes either."
Austin was supposed to make a visit to Lincoln on 2/1, but was forced to cancel. He says that he is looking to get up to Nebraska next month and that two coaches on the Nebraska staff seem to be recruiting him.
"I am going to visit Nebraska in the next two to three weeks," Austin said. "Their coach came by to see me last spring and when they offered me that really interested me (in Nebraska). Tim Beck is their offensive coordinator and he is recruiting me with Coach Ron Brown."
