He is taking visits, he is adding offers, and he is looking for the best school for him.
"I am going to go where I feel I have the best opportunity," said McGinnis. "I am looking at everything; I want to find the perfect system to play in, I am looking at academic strength, and I want to major in Business Management, so I am looking at that too.
"All the schools are equal for me now and I am just looking to find the right fit."
A new school jumped in the race last week and it is another SEC program. McGinnis is now looking into it.
Georgia offered me and that is my last offer. I had been receiving mail from them a good bit over the last month, but I did not know if an offer was coming.
"I talked to Coach [Mike] Ekeler (Inside linebackers) and he offered me. He likes my film and he thinks I can make a big impact in their defense.
"I do not know a lot about Georgia yet, so I want to find out more about them. I know they beat LSU last season and I know a little about them in the SEC, but that is it right now."
A school the 6-foot-2, 215 pound junior out of New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton knows a good bit about is Texas A&M. McGinnis visited College State late in February and he liked what he saw.
"There is a new excitement there and I like that a lot. I have been there a couple of times and I like the coaches a lot. I like their program, I think they are doing good things, and I do not get tired of going over there."
The Aggies are recruiting McGinnis the hardest right now and he will likely get back there for another visit.
He has other visits on his mind too.
If things go right for the talented linebacker, he could have a decision before his senior year begins.
"I hope to have my list narrowed by the summer and then I could commit in August. If I am not ready then, I will wait until after the season. I will probably be ready to commit before the season though."
McGinnis feels LSU and USC could be next to offer. He currently has eight offers.
