Focusing on his game

Kendall Bussey was one of a few players to really jump start the 2015 recruiting class for Nebraska. The running back from New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman is trying to get better and will be back in Lincoln later this spring for another visit.

Kendall Bussey from New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman is gearing up for track season. The 5-foot-9 and 190-pound running back will run in two events and later this spring he and his team will start spring practices.

"I am running track right now," Bussey said. "I will be doing the 100m and the 200m. My personal best 100m time is 10.8 and my personal best 200m is 22.4. We have spring practices for football too that start in May."

After rushing for almost 1,000 yards last year (974), averaging 10.9 yards per rushing attempt and scored 18 touchdowns as a junior Bussey is still trying to improve. He's focused on getting better in every area to help his team win this fall as well as getting ready for Nebraska next year.

"Basically I am just trying to get better. I really wanted to work on getting in and out of my breaks, getting quicker and being faster. I was also trying to improve my field vision."

Husker fans were excited to hear about Bussey going "BOOM" while in Lincoln for junior day back in February. Bussey will return to Lincoln for a return visit for Nebraska's spring game and he says that he might also hit up a camp or combine during the summer.

"I am going to get back to Nebraska for their spring game. I don't know about Big Red Weekend or when that is. I will also plan on possibly making a national camp or combine or two this summer as well."

In the past there couple of recruiting classes for Nebraska there has been an active member of the class acting a bit as a recruiting coordinator. Bussey admits that there is a group in the class that is already communicating and that there is at least one area player that Bussey is trying to encourage to go to Nebraska.

"Oh yeah, we have a group conversation going between me, Eric Lee, Avery Anderson and Christian Gaylord already talking about our future at Nebraska. I have been talking to Kirk Merritt from Destrehan (La.) about going to Nebraska with me already."
