Nebraska commit Eric Lee has been a mainstay on the 7 on 7 circuit and was in Kansas City this past weekend for the Heartland Shootout. The future Husker showed off a wide variety of skills during the competition, showcasing his skills on both sides of the ball.
"I tried to be more versatile today than other camps I have competed in," Lee said. "I played a lot of wide receiver today. I felt very comfortable and confident with it."
Lee had one of the better catches of the day when he went up the ladder to snag a pass one-handed that resulted in a touchdown. He's more natural on defense but he definitely has the athleticism to star at just about any position in a camp setting.
The four-star defensive back discussed areas of his game he's happy with and some that he'd still like to make improvements upon.
"One of my top assets is definitely my ability to communicate with my teammates," Lee pointed out. "I'm a great leader and I'm effective at getting everyone on the same page. It's important for everyone to know their assignments in football."
"My press coverage is improving," he added. "I want to make that a strength and I've been working on my technique with it a lot. We're going to press a lot this year at Valor Christian so I need to be more comfortable with that."
The Highlands Ranch (CO) native was offered by Kansas State recently. He remains firm to the Huskers and has even taken on an active role in helping build the class.
"I'm 100 percent Nebraska," confirmed Lee. "I haven't talked to any schools since my commitment. Some are still trying to recruit me but I already found my school."
"I'm working on recruiting others to Nebraska now," he continued. "I talked to the Davis twins and Spencer Tears before they jumped on board. I haven't gotten any new names from the staff but I know there is a safety in Louisiana that has Texas Tech and Arizona State as his leaders. I'll definitely be getting in contact with him to try and convince him to visit Nebraska."
Lee shared why he felt Nebraska is the school for him.
"The obvious things that I really am a fan of are the facilities and the coaching staff," he discussed. "The big thing for me though has been the fan base. There is a ton of support for the program. I did the tunnel walk for the spring game and had people yelling my name left and right. The fan support there is great and there's nothing like it."
The Valor Chrisitan product and Huskers verbal already has a date in mind for his official visit.
"I might try to get to Nebraska again over the summer," Lee mentioned. "If not, I'm going to be discussing with the coaches about taking my official visit for the Miami game."
