JR QB considering visit to Nebraska

Big Red Weekend names are starting to come up a little bit. This 2016 quarterback from De Soto (Texas) is already holding an offer from the Huskers and says he's trying to make it to Lincoln in June.

De Soto (Texas) is back out on the field working hard to make another run this fall. Tristen Wallace, 6-foot-3 and 210-pounds, moves to being the full-time quarterback for De Soto this fall.

"It feels great to be out there practicing," Wallace said. "Our goals are what they always are: go undefeated through districts and win state.

"I played both quarterback and some wide receiver last year as a sophomore. This year though I will only be playing quarterback."

What Wallace says about himself as a player is what you like to hear. He doesn't just mention his play, but how he approaches things off the field as well.

"I am a field general. I am a great leader for my team on and off the field. I am a real system guy. I do what the coach asks me to do and I take everything one play at a time."

There are two offers on the table for Wallace at the moment. He says that it's great to know that you are talented enough to get an offer. He has some thoughts about what he will be looking for in a school as this process really begins to ramp up for him.

"I have two offers right now. I have offers from Indiana and Nebraska; both Big Ten teams. It's a great feeling to know that you are good enough to get that offer.

"The first thing that I am looking for in a school is the education. Second, it's how I feel around the coaches and how you feel at home being far away from where you grew up."

The Huskers might be fortunate to host Wallace in the coming weeks. He has met the recruiting coach who is also the offensive coordinator for Nebraska. He says that he grew up watching a Nebraska quarterback just like his father did before him.

"I am going to try and make it up for Nebraska for camp or Big Red Weekend," Wallace said. "Coach Tim Beck is a great guy. He made such a strong first impression with me.

"Nebraska is a great team. I grew up watching Taylor Martinez play quarterback at Nebraska and my dad grew up watching Tommie Frazier play at Nebraska."
