White checks out Nebraska

Nebraska had a couple of offered players in attendance for Big Red Weekend that were not committed. One of those players was 2016 standout linebacker/running back Devin White.

Devin White from Springhill (La.) North Webster was in Lincoln today for Big Red Weekend. The standout linebacker/running back already has an offer from Nebraska and wanted to see what they Huskers had to offer.

"It went pretty well," White said. "It was actually way better than I expected. I didn't know much about Nebraska coming in. I am glad that I came."

White came away very impressed with how Nebraska infuses technology with the program. He also liked the academic center that the players use.

"One of the best things was seeing the technology that Nebraska uses in their facilities when it comes to their training and also their academic center," said White. "Those two things stand out the most."

One of the big things that White wanted to do today was talk to all of the coaches and meet the head coach. He felt very welcome in Lincoln despite being hundreds of miles away from home.

"The coaches are great," White said. "They are down to Earth and are very easy to talk to. I felt very welcome here."

White is being recruited by Ron Brown, but the Huskers like White as an athlete. Instead of going to the running backs meeting he went with the linebackers so he could get a better feel for that position coach.

"Nebraska likes me as a linebacker or a running back, but I already know Coach Ron Brown so I went with Coach Ross Els.

"I wanted to get a chance to talk to him about being a linebacker for him. He explained the expectations that they set for players, talked about the defense and the drills that they do as a team."

White said that he will be working out at Nebraska tomorrow, just for one day, but has an extended stay set for his visit. BigRedReport.com will catch up with him again to talk about the workout and the complete trip.
