Nebraska is over half-way complete with their 2015 class so Big Red Weekend had a bit of a different meaning this year. There was some flexibility for underclassmen like Desmond Bland to get in and see what the Huskers had to offer.
"It was a real good visit," Bland said. "We got there to the stadium about noon and they showed us the campus, toured the facilities and we watched some videos.
"We also got a chance to see the academic center at Nebraska. I really like the learning center, the locker room and also the players lounge."
The position meetings with the recruits was a big hit. Bland liked getting a chance to talk to some of the current players individually. There is a strong family-like relationship between the coaches and the players in Lincoln.
"I like how the coaches are close to all of their players. They players told me that Coach John Garrison a lot like a second father to them. It's real close; like a family."
Bland is going to be heading back home tomorrow and will not be taking part of the camp. "I am leaving in the morning and not doing the camp," Bland said. "I don't have an offer yet from Nebraska."
The visit today was the first time that Bland had visited Nebraska. He said that he definitely wants to make it back and preferably for a game this fall.
"This was my first time there and I was amazed by the visit. I want to get back this fall and visit for a game."
