Nebraska may be three-quarters of the way full with commitments in the class of 2015. Over the past two weeks the Huskers hosted a number of 2015 and 2016 recruits. It’s time to start talking about how this class could end up.
BigRedReport.com is going to take a look at the 2015 class and the remaining prospects to pay attention to at every position. Behind the position is the projected number of players Nebraska is expected to take at the position.
Defensive Tackle: (2)
The recruiting class for Nebraska got a tremendous boost when Carlos and Khalil made their decisions to commit to Nebraska. The twins look pretty similar on film – give the edge on explosion to brother Carlos, but it’s a nit-picky margin – and could play a number of positions on the defensive line. If they were to add some additional size they could play the one, they really look like typical threes and it’s not a huge stretch to see either of them in a four in an odd-man front or potentially in a five. I compare both Carlos and Khalil a little bit to Peyton Newell a year ago. Newell was looked at to play DT initially and will likely start out at DE and move down if needed. I see the exact opposite for both Carlos and Khalil starting out their careers inside and working out to fill in for injuries, other depth issues of possibly in packages. It’s great to see a number of this versatile type of players though back in the mix on the defensive line in Lincoln.
First in line:None. Nebraska got two with the Davis twins.
Who could follow:None. Nebraska two with the Davis twins.
Looking to next year:
There are only a couple of offers out to 2016 DTs and like with the DE position there are no offers out to any players at this position in the 500-mile radius. Nebraska has made offers to two, 4-star DTs though in areas where they have been able to get players to come to Lincoln before. First, Garrett Rand is the No. 8 DT in the nation for 2016. The 6-foot-3 and 275-pound DT from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton has offers from Arizona, Arizona State and Illinois to go along with Nebraska right now. Derrick Brown, the No. 17 DT from Buford (Ga.) Lander, is the other to hold an offer from the Huskers. The 6-foot-4 and 276-pound DT is holding offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and many others.
