Report: Sleeper All-American?

After a standout season in 2013-14, the national media is taking interest in Terran Petteway's game this summer.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Last season as a transfer from Texas Tech, most expected sophomore Terran Petteway to be good. Nobody expected an all-conference caliber type of season.

Now the national media is taking notice this summer, including the USA Today, which listed their top five potential sleeper All-American this season.

"It takes winning close games to win the Big Ten. And to win close games, you need an alpha dog guy to turn to in pivotal stretches. Petteway might be the best go-to option in the Big Ten. Last year he scored more than 20 points eight times and more than 30 twice. He will be relied upon to be the main manufacturer again for a Nebraska squad trying to carry over the momentum from its fourth-place Big Ten finish spurred by winning 10 of the last 13 league games."

Petteway averaged 18.1 points per game last season, in the process winning the Big Ten scoring title. It was the first time a Nebraska player led the conference in scoring in over 60 years.

The Texas native's best game last season came against nationally ranked Wisconsin, when he scored 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 77-68 win. The win was the icing on top of Nebraska's NCAA resume.
