Henderson will check out Nebraska

Nebraska extended an offer to this linebacker last week before he planned on announcing a commitment. The offer from the Huskers was enough to postpone his commitment and check out what they have to offer.

Troy Henderson from Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward was set to announce his commitment last week. That was before an offer came in the night before from the Huskers which is causing him to reevaluate his decision and setting up a visit to Lincoln.

"I got the offer from Nebraska on July 3rd," Henderson said. "It was at like 6:00 that night. Coach Ross Els and Coach Rick Kaczenski have been the two coaches recruiting me for Nebraska.

"Nebraska had been recruiting me for a while and I spoke to them earlier that week. They said that they were close to offering and I told them I was committing Friday. They wanted me to wait, but were able to offer me the night before."

The visit to Nebraska could happen before the end of the month according to Henderson. He says that he really just needs to see what Nebraska is all about, meet the staff and see how they conduct business there in Lincoln.

"I just want to give them a fair chance. Hopefully I will get a chance to visit Nebraska in a couple of weeks. I want to see what they are all about and what they are doing there."

The Huskers interrupted Henderson's decision between two schools that he was going to pick between on the 4th. "Before Nebraska offered I was down to two schools. I was planning on committing to Syracuse or Rutgers."

Henderson says that he can play any of the three linebacker positions. There is definitely a preference to play outside -- which is where Nebraska likes him -- and he says that the Huskers like his speed and quickness.

"I can play any of the linebacker spots really," Henderson said. "I would say that I prefer outside linebacker. Nebraska likes how I play in space and they like my speed and quickness."
