Huskers unveil alternate unis

The University of Nebraska and adidas unveiled new Red Rising uniforms - which will be worn on Sept. 27 when they host Illinois.

LINCOLN, Neb. - For the third consecutive year, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will wear an alternate uniform in 2014. The game has been set for Sept. 27 against Illinois.

"I don't think we'll ever get too outlandish. I don't think that is our style," Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini told reporters at Big Ten Media Days earlier in the week. “All that stuff, it helps in recruiting. To me, it's crazy that it does but it does."

Last season, sporting black jerseys, Nebraska lost to UCLA, 41-21 at home after being up 21-3.

From the release:

Celebrating the 125th year of Nebraska football, the new all-red uniform features black metallic stripes on the jersey and pant, ultra-light black and silver metallic numbers and a large Nebraska “N” on the chest of the TECHFIT compression base layer.

Nebraska’s new uniform also incorporates TECHFIT Shockweb technology. The adidas TECHFIT Shockweb uniform is the only true compression uniform system in the industry. Shockweb fits tighter to the body, making players more difficult to tackle. TECHFIT Shockweb is lighter, helping to make the player fast and increasing his range of motion, to support the athlete's performance at the highest levels.
