A couple of commitments, a new Big 12 offer, and the release of two new rankings lists highlighted the past week in recruiting in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
This past Tuesday brought a sixth offer to Frisco 2017 offensive lineman Jack Anderson, who reported a New Mexico State offer. The promising young lineman already had offers from Arizona State, Arkansas State, New Mexico, Texas Tech, and UAB.
A pair of Mesquite Poteet 2015 stars set their commitment dates this past week. First came five-star outside linebacker Malik Jefferson, who announced that Dec. 19 will be the day he commits. Jefferson, who first told the Dallas Morning News of his intentions to commit Dec. 19 before tweeting out the information, is Scout.com's No. 1 player in the state and No. 2 overall recruit in the country.
Later in the week, Jefferson's teammate, four-star receiver/outside linebacker DeAndre McNeal, announced that he would commit a day after Jefferson on Dec. 20.
Sunday brought the news of a Baylor offer for Rowlett 2015 kicker Andrew Galitz, who tweeted the news just before 5 p.m. Galitz, who now has two offers, is committed to Miami.
In other news, the Denton Record-Chronicle confirmed that the University Interscholastic League ruled Denton Guyer 2015 three-star quarterback Kevin Dillman, who is committed to Nebraska, ineligible for the 2014 season.
Dillman moved to Guyer from California during the winter. Dillman's ineligibility opens the door wide for 2017 quarterback prospect Shawn Robinson, who may have started, anyway. Robinson is a 6-foot-2, 191-pound future star who already holds offers from Nebraska and Texas.
Robinson and Guyer, which won consecutive Class 4A Division I state championships the past two seasons with Texas freshman Jerrod Heard at the healm, face four-star Texas A&M quarterback commit Kyler Murray and Allen in an Aug. 29 season opener at North Texas' Apogee Stadium in Denton. Allen is the two-time defending Class 5A Division I state champion.
As for the aforementioned rankings lists, the DFW Metroplex was all over Scout's updated Midlands Region Top 150 and Texas Hot 100.
Jefferson, obviously, was No. 1 on both lists and led huge Metroplex contingents: 62 of the Midlands Region Top 150 and 50 of the Texas Hot 100.

NOTE:To the northwest of the Metroplex, two players announced commitments this past week. Wichita Falls Rider 2015 defensive lineman Ryan Wegmann committed Thursday night to North Texas, choosing the Mean Green over offers from Air Force, Colorado State, and Texas State.
The other commitment came from Graham 2015 defensive lineman Dustin McWhorter, who committed Friday to Texas State. McWhorter picked the Bobcats over offers from Colorado State and North Texas.
