Game: Chandler (Az.) HS at Peoria (Az.) Centennial; 8/29/2014; 7 p.m.
Centennial Players to Watch: senior RB/LB Dedrick Young, senior OL/DL Brett Tonz, junior OL Marshal Nathe, junior OL Steven Bailey, junior DB Isaac Steele, senior DE Micah Navarrete, soph DE Andrew Nichols, junior LB Bozton Sanders, junior RB/DB Quintin Gomez, junior OL Tanner Hawthorne
Keys to a Centennial Win: Everyone knows that Centennial likes to pound the rock but they have to be able to throw the football to win this game. Chandler has the athletes to match Centennial's allowing them to stack the box to stop the run and play man coverage. A few early completions takes a guy out of the box and gives RB Dedrick Young some room to run behind his big offensive line.
The Coyote defense needs to get Chandler QB Bryce Perkins. They have the defensive line to get there on their own with Micah Navarrete and Brett Tonz but expect DC Andrew Taylor to bring some heat.
Chandler Players to Watch: senior QB Bryce Perkins, junior WR'DB N'Keal Harry, junior RB/DB Chase Lucas, soph WR Kolby Taylor, senior DB Jaray Mills, junior DB Mason Moran, senior WR Terrell Flanigan, senior DT J.W. Windsor, senior DE Kalif Roberts, senior OL Vinny Vital, senior WR Danny Mahan, senior WR Justin Jan
Keys to a Chandler Win: The Wolves' offense is too explosive and has too many play makers not to be able to score some points. Centennial is going to try and control the football and keep these play makers off the field. The key will be getting some stops on defense, that has seemed to be the Achilles heel of this team, getting stops when they need them.
Key Matchup: With so many athletes on this field Friday night, it is hard to spotlight just one matchup. So I am going to highlight groups. First, these two teams are polar opposites on offense. Chandler is spread to the max while Centennial is ground and pound. Or old school versus new school. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Second, the trenches. Centennial has a tradition of being very good on both sides of the ball, while Chandler has the reputation of having the best skill kids in the state. Chandler is hyping up their lines has the best they have had in quite some time.
