Paramus (N.J.) Catholic is off to a great start. Saleem Brightwell says that he and his teammates have to remember to take things one week at a time. The 6-foot-1 and 216-pound linebacker says to focus on this week's opponent.
"We are 6-0 right now and are in district play," Brightwell said. "We just need to concentrate on the task at hand every week. We don't want to worry about next week."
As a linebacker Brightwell says that he's really improved from last season mainly because the time on the field. He's only played the linebacker position one year and he's really getting used to it still."I feel like I can read the field better. I am getting used to it. Last year was my first year at linebacker. I played safety up until last year."
There are four teams that are standing out right now to Brightwell because of the attention that they are giving to him mainly. There aren't any official visits set up yet, but he knows that he will take an official visit to his top four.
Brightwell knows what he's looking for when it comes to picking out a school. The talented recruit says that the education comes first in his decision. After that it comes to the team and how the program can get the best out of him.
"The main thing for me is getting the degree. I also want to go to a team that's trying to work their way up and are going to know how to push me to realize all of my potential."
Nebraska is making a strong push for Brightwell. He has seen the Huskers on television and has liked how their defense played. He says that he could see a fit at a couple of spots on their defense.
"Coach Ross Els is the coach from Nebraska that has been recruiting me. On television the Nebraska defense has been looking good. I feel like I am a good fit. I think that I can play either outside linebacker or the rover spot at the next level."
