Nebraska Monday presser donuts (10-27-14)

The Huskers will look to improve to 8-1 on the season when they host Purdue this Saturday. Head coach Bo Pelini kicked off the week with his weekly Monday press conference.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini met the media Monday morning to discuss the Huskers upcoming matchup with Purdue on Saturday.

Despite their 3-5 record, Pelini was very complimentary of the Boilermakers, saying their team is an up and comer.

"I think the are a well coached football team that has gotten better. If you watch them from where they were a year ago to where they are now, it's night and day," said Pelini. "It doesn't surprise me. Darrell Hazell is a heck of a coach and he some good coaches on that staff.

"I think they are going to continue to get better. You see the good coaching and the kids play hard. They are sound in what they do."

Purdue is led on offense by a pair of senior running backs: Akeem Hunt and Raheem Mostert. Both are speed type backs and both are averaging over 6.0 yards per carry this season.

"They do a lot of different things to try to create space for those guys," said Pelini. "I think they have a good understanding of what teams are trying to do against them and game plan well. They have their different wrinkles they mix in there to try to do as many things they can to get a couple of those guys, real playmakers, out in space."
