Scout Spotlight: Sheriron Jones

The Florida commit could be looking around late in the recruiting process.

Earlier this month, Big Red Report sources incidcated Moreno Valley Rancho Verde (CA) quarterback Sheriron Jones could be possibly visiting Nebraska down the road. The senior is currently committed to Florida, but might be looking around once his season is over with the Gators' coaching change.

The Huskers were in on Jones before he committed to Florida and still need a quarterback as the calendar turns to December.

In this Scout.com Spotlight, get to know the California prep a little better:

Jones describes himself as a team leader who has a little Russell Wilson and Brett Favre in him.

"Brett Favre is a gunslinger and Wilson is a technician," said Jones. "I fell in love with the game of football at the age of six. I love the team activity of playing with 11 guys out there to reach one goal."

Scout.com national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins says Jones is very athletic, but is a quarterback first.

"He's very athletic but is more polished and a better pure passer in the pocket than given credit for," said Biggins. "He shows poise in the pocket, is a natural leader and can get the ball down the field. He can scramble for yardage or buy time in the pocket and then make a throw when a play breaks down. He needs to tighten his release just a bit but is overall, solid mechanically and has some definite upside to him."

The Huskers have had success at Rancho Verde high school before, pulling former defensive end Eric Martin and wide receiver Quincy Enunwa from the school. In addition, former receiver commit Damore'ea Stringfellow was from the school.
