One of the players in the radius of Lincoln or of Nebraska that was a must-get for the Huskers was Baldwin (Kans.) offensive tackle Christian Gaylord. Gaylord, who grew up a Nebraska fan, committed to Bo Pelini and his staff all the way back in February.
Just less than 10 months later and Pelini has been fired. Part of the class has decided to open things up and look around. But there are those -- like Gaylord -- who are still firm to Nebraska and were reacting to the news of the new head coach on Thursday.
"I have a basketball game here in a little bit," Gaylord said, "but really quick, I found out that he is the new coach of Nebraska today.
"I really don't know that much about him. What I have heard about him so far though is that he is a good hire for Nebraska."
Gaylord was one of three offensive line commitments up until Bo Pelini was fired from Nebraska. Mirko Jurkovic was on an official visit to Ohio State at the time Pelini was fired and decommitted. Michael Decker from Omaha (Nebr.) North remains a solid verbal commitment to Nebraska.
