Report: Jones hears from Coach Banker

Does Nebraska have their new defensive coordinator? Husker defensive end commit Reuben Jones confirmed he got a call from a former Mike Riley assistant.

Lake Gibson high school (FL) defensive end Reuben Jones, a Nebraska commit, was one of the most vocal on social media about not receiving a call from the new Nebraska coaching staff.

He got that call on Monday night.

Projected Nebraska defensive coordinator Mike Banker, called the three-star recruit who features a double-digit offer list.

“He said he’s the defensive coordinator,” Jones told the Lincoln Journal Star. “He seemed cool.”

A 6-foot-3, 223-pounds, Jones is an athletic defensive lineman that could fit in many schemes for Nebraska going forward. Solid news for fans who are in the dark on what defensive scheme might be coming to Lincoln in the future.
