Nebraska now in the hunt for Nick Thomas

The Huskers brought in talented middle linebacker recruit Nick Thomas for an official visit this weekend. Thomas is formerly from the Midwest and grew up following the Huskers.

Nick Thomas from Bradenton (Flor.) IMG Academy is originally from Concordia, Kans. The talented middle linebacker had an older sister that played basketball at Nebraska and admittedly the Wisconsin commit grew up following Nebraska. Thomas took an official visit to see what Nebraska had to offer this weekend.

"I left last night," Thomas said over a text message. "I am back in Florida already. My sister played basketball at Nebraska and I used to drive there a lot to a lot of great. The visit was great. I great up following Nebraska."

Thomas sees himself playing the middle in a 4-3 front. He went to Lincoln this weekend with a number of questions about the defense that Nebraska would run under their new head coach. He got the responses that he was looking for and said that the ability to teach and develop him as a player is key to his decision.

"I've grown up preferring a 4-3 defense and that's what they want to run at Nebraska. I questioned the defense and the techniques they prefer and I agreed with everything that they had to say.

"I respect a coach that can support everything about his defense and can talk in depth about it. I like a coach that can continue to teach me and further my knowledge of the game. That will probably be a deciding factor for me."

Thomas has a tough decision in front of him. The long time Wisconsin commitment has to compare the Badgers with a new head coach with the school that he grew up a fan of.

"It will be a tough choice between Wisconsin and Nebraska," Thomas said. "I would rate the visit a "9". I liked talking to the coaches this weekend the most."
