Jared Bubak from Lincoln (Nebr.) Christian was the first commitment in the 2016 class. The 6-foot-4 and 240-pound tight end committed to Bo Pelini and his staff and hasn't met anyone from the new staff yet.
"No I haven't met anyone from the new staff yet," Bubak said. "I was supposed to about three weeks ago, but we had a basketball game. I will be meeting them soon. I have been in contact with Ryan Gunderson."
Plenty of people have been talking about a meet and greet weekend during one of the upcoming official visit weekends. Bubak said he hadn't heard anything about it, but there might be a reason for that.
"I haven't heard anything about a meet and greet on the 23rd. I may not have heard about it because I don't check my email very often."
Bubak became quick friends with 2015 commit Christian Gaylord. Bubak has spoken with Gaylord about his visit with the new staff and got a good report.
"I have talked to Christian and he met with the offensive line coach, Mike Cavanaugh. Christian told me that Coach Cavanaugh was literally the funniest guy that he had ever met. He really loves him."
The Lincoln Christian standout is playing a winter sport. He says that he won't be doing anything in the spring though. And this summer he will play on a traveling passing league team.
"I am playing basketball, but I am not going to do track," Bubak said. "I will be doing a traveling 7-on-7 football league. I really want to work on my route running and work on my hands."
Bubak recently went to the Army All-American junior combine. The Nebraska prep was rated the best tight end at the event.
