Was enough emphasis put on in-state kids?

Was enough emphasis put on the state of Nebraska in recruiting during the Bo Pelini era?

On Monday, Scout.com and Big Red Report’s Josh Harvey joined The Bottom Line on Omaha.com in a recruiting roundtable.

A number of recruiting topics came up during the two-hour show.

In this video, the crew discuss in-state recruiting under head coach Bo Pelini. Did the Husker coaching staff spend enough time in Nebraska?

Harvey’s answer begins at 3:10

“I think there is way too much emphasis put on, ‘we need to get more kids in state,’” said Harvey, when talking about fans. “The kids just aren’t here in state.”

Harvey goes on to discuss the Harrison Phillips situation, comparing Nebraska prospects to those from hot bed states, and where in-state kids are going if they don’t have a Nebraska offer.
