Nebraska coaches coming to see Kaiwan Lewis

An interesting linebacker transfer has entered the picture for Nebraska potentially. The Nebraska linebacker coach will be out to see the possible transfer later today.

Kaiwan Lewis is set to transfer from South Carolina after graduating this spring and is considering a number of schools. One of those schools will be by to see the 6-foot, 225-pound linebacker today.

"Yes, the Nebraska staff will be here to see me today," Lewis said over text message. "Coach Trent Bray is coming and I think that he will be here sometime around 2:00."

Lewis graduated from Hammonton (N.J.) St. Joseph HS and was a three-star prospect coming out of high school. Last year, Lewis recorded 20 tackles, after logging 52 in 2013. One might wonder how serious of an option the Huskers are for Lewis.

"I am just as serious about Nebraska as any option," said Lewis. "I am just looking at the coaches that can make me the best linebacker I can be with a great opportunity to play."

One of the reasons the Huskers are in the picture might be the relationship between Lewis and a current Husker. The two have stayed in touch since going through the recruiting process at the same time and since going to college.

"I have been in touch with Michael Rose about Nebraska," Lewis said. "We have always followed each other and careers since we were juniors in high school."
