Somewhere between the basketball games, school and working out Alex Davis is fitting in all of the new recruiting attention he has been getting. The Palm Beach Gardens (Flor.) William T. Dwyer HS recruit is a Georgia Southern commitment, but picked up a big offer on Monday.
Davis was told by the Nebraska staff that they are trying to backfill a player that declared early for the NFL Draft. That immediately got the attention of Davis.
"They told me that there was a player that is going to be a first round pick that left early. They said that they compared me to him and said that they plan to use me the same way that he played."
Nebraska isn't the only school showing up late for Davis. Another school has been in Florida this week trying to get that last weekend, official visit from Davis. Taking a visit being a commit to another school was something that he had to consider with his family.
"I told UT-San Antonio that I had to think about taking a visit," Davis said. "I wanted to talk it over with my family and see if it was something that I wanted to do. We decided it was best to take another visit and I am going to Nebraska this weekend.
"I spoke about it with Georgia Southern and they just told me that I had to do what was best for me. They weren't telling me to go, but they definitely wanted me to make the best possible decision."
