Avery Roberts planning Nebraska visit

Nebraska will be looking for multiple linebackers in 2016 class. They are also looking at years beyond. The Huskers targeted this inside backer early in the process and should host him next month in Lincoln.

Wilmington (De.) Concord linebacker Avery Roberts is nearly a double-digit offer total and is making some early trips. The 6-foot-2 and 215-pound Roberts says that he expects to see more coaches come through in the spring to see him, despite him being just a 2017 prospect.

"I have six offers right now," Roberts said. "I have offers from Nebraska, Illinois, Temple, Rutgers, Old Dominion and UMass. We don't have spring practices so when the coaches come I will just go somewhere they can see me."

Nebraska offered Roberts nearly a month ago. Roberts says that the Nebraska linebacker coach is talking to him about playing inside just like all of the other coaches. Roberts says that his strength is stopping the run.

"I have been talking with Coach Trent Bray from Nebraska. He seems like a really great guy. All of the teams like me as an inside linebacker. I am a run-stopping linebacker. That's what I really do well."

The plan is that Roberts will make a trip to Lincoln in about a month. The spring game for the Huskers should be quite an event with the new coaching staff. Roberts says that he's looking forward to seeing what Nebraska can provide.

"I am planning a visit to Nebraska for their spring game," Roberts said. "I am looking forward to meeting all of the coaches, seeing the game and looking at Nebraska's facilities."
