Huskers jump in on Thomas Schaffer

Nebraska is the latest to offer Illinois prep via Austria, Thomas Schaffer.

According to Scout.com's Allen Trieu, Nebraska offered Lake Forest Academy (Ill.) junior defensive lineman Thomas Schaffer on Tuesday night. The junior is a native of Austria and completely wide open in his recruitment.

The junior has a long list of offers, including Wisconsin, Oregon, Maryland, Iowa, Kentucky, Stanford, Syracuse, and Vanderbilt.

Here is a recent Schaffer workout, filmed by Scout.com's Beth Long and published on the network on Monday.

"It is just a great feeling, talking to the coaches just I can't describe it because I would have never thought that this would happen to me," Schaeffer told Long last month. "When I heard about the offer from Oregon, it really still hasn't set in. The same with getting the offer from Wisconsin," Schaffer said. "They had defensive lineman like J.J. Watt, who is my size. It's just a great feeling to see how it is happening and talk to the coaches about what you could do at their school and giving you love about everything."

Big Red Report has plans to talk with the junior in the coming days.
