Huskers crack the top 25

Nebraska is ranked after a series sweep against Texas.

After a series sweep over nationally ranked Texas this past weekend, the Nebraska baseball team finds themselves in the Top 25.

The Huskers, 21-7 overall, check in at No. 18 after not being ranked last week. Nebraska joined Illinois (No. 15) and Maryland (No. 17), both from the Big Ten, in the poll. Indiana who fell out and Iowa both were considered for the Top 25.

Four Nebraska pitchers were named Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week for their efforts against Texas on Saturday. Kyle Kubat, Jake Hohensee, Colton Howell, and Jeff Chestnut combined to strike out 19 Longhorn batters in 15 innings of play in a 1-0 win.

According to, Nebraska is now No. 18 in RPI. The Huskers will square off against Creighton (15-7) on Tuesday, who currently sits No. 88 in RPI.
