Roberts taking trip to Nebraska

The Huskers have some very talented recruits coming in this weekend for their annual spring game. This junior linebacker is coming and really wants to see how everything functions in Lincoln and how he fits in.

Avery Roberts from Wilmington (Del.) Concord is one of the most talented junior linebackers in the nation. The 6-foot-2 and 215-pound recruit is making a big trip this weekend to check out at Big Ten school.

"Yes sir I am visiting Nebraska this weekend," Roberts said. "I am looking forward to getting an opportunity to see the school, visit with the coaching staff and players.

"I want a chance to observe the coaching styles and schemes, seeing the facilities and getting a sense of what a game day in Lincoln feels like. Most of all I want to see if I feel comfortable and if I see myself fitting into what they are building."

Roberts realizes how important these trips are. He says that you need to gather all of this information and make a decision. You only get to do it once and it has to be right in a lot of different areas.

"I only get one college choice and I can't afford to choose the wrong school," Roberts said. "I need to know and be sure of what is the best school, coaching staff and program for me.

"Part of that is knowing what their plans are for me and if they can develop me as a player and person to help me reach my dreams."

As a sophomore, Roberts had 112 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss. Roberts was a first-team all-state selection.
