Nebraska true sophomore wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El, arguably one of the nation’s most dangerous punt returners, has been named to the Big Ten Conference’s preseason watch list.
A freshman in 2014, Pierson-El only recorded 23 catches for 321 yards and four touchdowns as a receiver, but made his impact on special teams, proving to be one of the best punt returners in the country.
Pierson-El had 34 returns, for 596 yards (17.5 average) and three scores. It could have easily been five to six touchdowns. His play on special teams earned him second-team All-American honors by the USA Today and Football Writers Association.
Pierson-El joins Nebraska defensive tackle Maliek Collins as one of 11 players to make the list. Other players Nebraska will play against this season on the list include: Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook, Michigan State defensive end Shilique Calhoun, Iowa defensive end Drew Ott, Northwestern running back Justin Jackson, Wisconsin safety Mike Caputo and Wisconsin running back Corey Clement.
