Nebraska head coach Mike Riley says backup quarterback Ryker Fyfe is sill on the team and still on scholarship entering fall camp.
"Actually, he's in a good position to compete at some roll at quarterback," said Riley. "I think fall camp for Ryker will be very important."
A junior, Fyfe has appeared in eight contests, connecting on 5-of-11 throws over the past two seasons.
"I kind of like the way he plays," said Riley. "He's a natural player. A litlte unorthodoxed, but a natural player. He's productive in general."
Fyfe, who was given a scholarship last summer, might be on a renewable scholarship.
"As we go forward, there are some scholarship decisions yet to be made. Some guys have been on a one-year deal, where it has the ability to be renewed...so those decisions will be made before or during fall camp."
Fyfe came to Nebraska after starring at Grand Island high school in Nebraska.
