Nebraska true freshman Stanley Morgan got his first chance of action on Saturday

Nebraska true freshman Stanley Morgan got his first live action on Saturday against BYU. Don't be surprised to see a bigger role as the season moves on.

LINCOLN, Neb. – After a strong fall camp, Nebraska true freshman Stanley Morgan got his first chance at action on Saturday against BYU.

Morgan registered two catches for 19 yards and also had a punt return.

“Surprisingly I didn’t mess up on any of my assignments, so I did pretty well,” said Morgan. “It came natural.”

Before taking the field, quarterback Tommy Armstrong had a chat with the former Louisiana prep.

“Don’t be nervous. People mess up,” said Morgan, when asked what Armstrong said. “Let everything come to me.”

Morgan was a player first mentioned at Big Ten Media Days by peers as someone who was standing out during summer workouts.

“In the summer I was a learner. I didn’t try to go in front of anybody else,” said Morgan. “I kept just working hard.”

Expect to see the true freshman become a bigger part of the offense as the season moves on.
