LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska redshirt freshman running back Mikale Wilbon received his first game action last Saturday and will look to once again get carries on Saturday.
Wilbon likely had the talent to play in 2014 as a true freshman, but a guy named Ameer Abdullah had other ideas. The former Illinois prep used his time wisely - practicing with the scout team.
“It really built my confidence up a lot. I was going against Randy (Gregory), Zaire (Anderson), going against them every day in practice,” Wilbon told reporters, including the Lincoln Journal Star. “So I’m trying to embarrass those guys because they’re trying to hit me. And them are all NFL guys, so they definitely got me better.”
In the video above, Wilbon talks about his play action BYU, his fall camp, and how hard it is to get in a rhythm with a crowded backfield.
