LINCOLN, Neb. – After dealing with a major injury bug the entire season, Nebraska’s injury list heading into Northwestern week is one of the more positive reports this season.
Nebraska’s practice on Monday will be very light, giving junior linebacker Michael Rose-Ivey a chance to return and test his groin, which has kept him out several weeks. Rose-Ivey is close, after testing it last week as well.
Another player who will test his groin is corner Daniel Davie, who Nebraska would welcome back when it comes to secondary depth.
Defensive tackle Kevin Williams (thumb) is doubtful for the contest after very little progress has been made concerning his injury the last week.
Good news for Nebraska defensive end Freedom Akinmoladun (knee) who will return to practice after missing the last two weeks of the season. Akinmoladun has 4.5 sacks this season. His return is questionable.
Running back Terrell Newby, who got banged up against Minnesota over the weekend, will be “fine” according to head coach Mike Riley. Newby rushed for over 100 yards against the Gophers.
Linebacker Luke Gifford, a second-team backer, is questionable with a hip injury.
