Ameer Abdullah named Detroit Lions Rookie of the Year

Former Nebraska Cornhusker Ameer Abdullah was named the Detroit Lions Rookie of the Year in 2015.

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers Ameer Abdullah received an honor on Saturday. Abdullah was announced the Detroit Lions Rookie of the Year, voted on by his teammates.

In 2016, Abdullah rushed 143 times for 597 yards. He led the team in both categories.

His 29.1 yards per kickoff return average set a new single-season franchise record, and was the second highest in NFL history by a rookie.

In the final three weeks of the season, Abdullah averaged 5.9 yards per carry in three Detroit victories.
