Nebraska DT Vincent Valentine will forgo his senior season and head to the NFL Draft

Nebraska junior defensive tackle Vincent Valentine is headed to the NFL.

After taking some time to think about it over the holidays, Nebraska junior defensive tackle Vincent Valentine is heading to the NFL.  The former Illinois prep leaves Nebraska with seven career sacks and 16 career tackles for loss in 24 starts. Valentine graduated in December.

Nebraska will now have to find a way to replace both Valentine and fellow DT Maliek Collins, who also declared for the draft.

Much of the burden will fall on Kevin Maurice. Down the stretch the soon to be senior played big snaps and showed he’s more than capable of being a starting defensive tackle in the Big Ten. Redshirt freshman Carlos and Khalil Davis are also expected to see snaps in 2016 after making a push last season to play as true freshman.
