Nebraska Recruit Trend Meter 2.0

Big Red Report provides our projections as to how Nebraska will finish out it's 2016 recruiting class.

We have the three-star defensive end/linebacker last on this list because he might be the hardest to predict.  A few weeks ago we didn’t think the New Jersey product would be in this class. But, Nebraska and linebacker coach Trent Bray have done a tremendous job keeping the senior engaged and committed. It's the reason we have the arrow going in the right direction. Pitt is still in the mix as well, but Nebraska might have done enough to lock him up.

Prediction on 1/24: Rutgers (too close to call)

Today's prediction: Nebraska

Announcement: N/A

The offensive tackle visited Iowa over the weekend. According to reports from Derek Young at HawkeyeInsider.com, the Hawkeyes made a big impression. Michigan State reaffirmed their desire for the three-star recruit this week, which puts another major hitting in the mix. Jackson is scheduled to visit Lincoln next weekend, but did Scout.com on Tuesday night that a visit might not materilize. A lot can happen in the next five days. This one will be interesting to watch play out. You always have to like Nebraska's chances when they host a kid the last weekend before National Signing Day.

Prediction: Iowa

Another tight end is wanted in the 2016 class and Allen would be the highest ranked tight end to sign with the Huskers since 2010 if they landed him. After visiting Nebraska on Sunday, he visited Iowa State on Monday. On Tuesday night, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was at Allen's basketball game. It appears to be a three-team race, but the Wolverines were really high up there after his official visit to Ann Arbor a few weeks ago. Read the latest from Scout.com on Allen....CLICK HERE

Prediction: Michigan

With the commitment of friend Tony Butler, a defensive back out of Ohio, to the University of Nebraska, it’s looking more and more like the Huskers are on solid ground with the talented four-star wide receiver. He recently cancelled a visit to Mississippi State, but still plans to visit Louisville this weekend – a school he was committed to last fall. It will be interesting to see if any new schools jump in the mix during the final week. If they do, Fitzpatrick has listened to all suitors at this point.

Prediction: Nebraska

Announcement: Scheduled to announce on Feb. 1 at 2:30 p.m.

The No. 1 safety out west pushed his official commitment back to garner more hype surrounding the announcement, but it doesn’t appear there will be any late changes in his recruitment. Nebraska is thought to be the leader in the clubhouse on Big Red Report. According to sources, Jackson spent a lot of time at the Under Armour game in early January talking about the Huskers. He’s told us multiple times his family is comfortable with Mike Riley and crew. Nebraska will also give him a shot at cornerback to start his career.

Prediction: Nebraska

Announcement: Scheduled to announce on Feb. 2

Omaha North DE/TE Noah Fant has necessarily ruled Nebraska out of the running, but it appears the Huskers' chances are slim at best. Despite the Iowa staff warning him to not visit Minnesota this weekend on an official visit, it appears Fant will. He says at this point he's still committed to Iowa, but this is definitely one that will go down to the wire. Ultimately, Big Red Report thinks the two makeup on National Signing Day and he will become a commitment.

Prediction: Iowa

Announcement: N/A

At this point it appears Nebraska might have a small lead, but you have to ask yourself – what is Farniok waiting on? The South Dakota prep has visited Nebraska 5+ times. Lincoln is the closest school to his home. His family has a relationship with senior safety Nate Gerry. The Huskers seem like a good fit. Farniok is in Iowa City this weekend with his mother, checking out the Hawkeyes after they have put major resources into the All-American offensive tackle the last few weeks.
