The Huskers Advance In B1G Tourney After Day 2 Win Over Wisconsin, 70-58

Nebraska got 20 points from Shavon Shields and 15 from freshman Glynn Watson off the bench to down No. 6 seed Wisconsin, 70-58 on Thursday night in the Big Ten Tournament.

Holding the Badgers to just 30 percent shooting from the field for the game, No. 11 Nebraska (16-17) knocked off No. 6 Wisconsin on Thursday night, 70-58 in the second round of the Big Ten tournament.


Nebraska advances to the third round and will take on No. 3 Maryland Friday night at 8 p.m. CT. 

For the second straight night, Nebraska senior Shavon Shields poured in 20 points, grabbing nine defensive rebounds during the contest. The Huskers also got 15 points from freshman guard Glynn Watson. Guards Benny Parker and Andrew White III chipped in 12 and 10 respectively.

 The Huskers took a 26-21 lead into the break, after holding to a 29 percent shooting performance in the first half. The Badgers also committed seven turnovers in the first half.

Wisconsin was able to cut the lead to 55-52 with 5:41 left to play, but Nebraska went on an 8-2 run, to push the game out of reach for Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard’s team.


*-With the win, the Huskers will play Maryland on Friday. The Huskers lost the only regular-season meeting, 70-65, on Feb. 3?.
