LINCOLN, Neb. - After a strong bowl performance against UCLA, Nebraska sophomore running back Devine Ozigbo appears to be getting first-team reps through three spring practices, but so is returning starter Terrell Newby and fellow sophomore Mikale Wilbon.
"I think Terrell is No. 1 since he has the most experience, but we are all getting the equal amount of reps," said Ozigbo. "Some people are in for some things."
After taking a committee approach much of last season, it was Ozigbo in the bowl game (21 carries for 87 yards) who received the bulk of the work. The performance gave the former Texas prep a lot of confidence heading into the offseason.
"It was definitely one of those things where after it happened, you have your family, yourself, coaches and everyone expecting it from now on," said Ozigbo. "It definitely a great experience. It built me a lot of confidence and got me experience."
Ozigbo says ball protection, pass blocking and acceleration are focuses this spring.
