Nebraska’s visitor weekend when it came to wide receivers was stacked. One guy who didn’t get as much buzz as he probably deserved before making his way to Lincoln was three-star prospect Maurice Bell from Murrieta Valley high school in California.
With offers from schools such as Nebraska, Arizona, Boston College, Iowa, Michigan Washington and Colorado, Bell is considered a top ten wide receiver out west.
The junior visited Colorado last week and will visit Iowa next weekend. He would like to make a decision sometime during the summer, before his senior year.
“I’m not really sure when, but after I take my visits, I will figure out the date,” said Bell. “I don’t want to have to worry about recruiting during my season. I want to just play and focus on my senior season.”
Bell talked about his trip to Lincoln.
“It kind of amazed me how many people were out there. I loved it. I was shocked. It was a great experience,” said the junior. “The fans. The biggest thing I will remember is the fan. It was crazy. The technology as well. All around it was a fun experience. I liked it a lot. Calibraska!”
Bell is being recruited by not only Nebraska wide receiver coach Keith Williams, but Cali prep Nebraska commit Keyshawn Johnson Jr.
“Coach Dub is funny. He’s cool and knows what he is talking about,” said Bell. “He’s (KJJ) on me a lot. He hits me up now and then, but since I was out here, he was hitting me up a lot. Telling me to come hang out.
“He is trying to get all the Cali guys out here with him. He’s really trying to get that Calibraska thing going. It’s nice…He wants all of us to come. He’s always hitting me up with, ‘Nebraska is the truth,’ ‘Nebraska is this…,’ ‘GBR,’ ‘Go Big Red.’ Keyshawn is funny. He’s my dude. The fans love him.”
Bell recorded nearly 1,000 receiving yards in 2015.
