After putting Nebraska in his top five back in April, Yulee high school (Florida) running back Jamari Peacock got his first glimpse of Lincoln over the weekend.
Peacock, who was one of the top players at the Huskers’ Friday Night Lights Camp, is also considering Florida, Florida State, Navy and Louisville.
“Nebraska was everything I imagined,” said Peacock. “The school wise and campus was really nice. It was impressive. I felt I ran thru the drills pretty smooth during the camp. I won all the 1-on-1s against the linebackers, so that was pretty cool.
“Coach Davis told me that I did a really nice job running the routes they run with their backs. He liked my footwork.”
Peacock, who will make a decision sometime after the season, has plans to return to Nebraska this fall.
“I would love to see a packed stadium with all of their consecutive sellouts,” said Peacock. “I want to see how loud it is and how the players react to it.
“The city of Lincoln was really nice. The fan support is great. Everybody in the state is all about Nebraska. That is pretty nice. There are no pro teams, so of course everyone is going to come across the entire state to see football and their athletics.”
So what was the main goal for Peacock during his trip to Lincoln?
“I was trying to get closer to the coaches and to see how they coach this weekend,” said the Florida prep. “I felt they were people that I could work with in the future. If I were to go to Nebraska, I feel like I would be in safe hands. It’s a really good staff.
Currently Nebraska is expected to take just one running back in the 2017 class. In addition to Peacock, Nebraska has high interest in Arizona running back commit Nathan Tilford who was also in attendance for Friday Night Lights.
Peacock plans to be an early-enrollee.
